Ingredients
- 7 oz 200g ladyfinger biscuits (Savoiardi)
- 9 oz 250g mascarpone cheese
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 cup strong espresso or black coffee cooled
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp heavy cream optional, for a lighter texture
- 2 tbsp coffee liqueur Marsala or rum, optional
Instructions
Make the Mascarpone Cream:
- In a bowl, whisk egg yolks, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Add mascarpone cheese and mix until fully combined.
- (Optional: Fold in heavy cream for a lighter texture.)
Prepare the Ladyfingers:
- Quickly dip ladyfingers into cooled espresso (don’t soak them too long, or they’ll become mushy).
- Arrange a layer of dipped ladyfingers in a serving dish.
Layer the Tiramisu:
- Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
- Add another layer of coffee-dipped ladyfingers.
- Spread the remaining mascarpone mixture on top.
Chill:
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4-6 hours (overnight for the best flavor).
Serve:
- Before serving, dust with cocoa powder using a fine sieve.
